Poder Cívico A.C. realizes that our country needs to reinvent itself, find other ways of accomplishing more with the same resources in order to become part of the global world. But this only happens through creativity.

Thus, Poder Cívico has taken upon itself the task of organizing the first international festival of brilliant minds in Mexico, La Ciudad de las Ideas, with the principal goal of raising curiosity and creativity in order to break through paradigms and create new ways of thinking.

2009 is a year to celebrate the inquisitive mind, science, knowledge, re-cognition, in sum, re-evolution. In this stance, Poder Cívico will pay homage to two essential players thorugh La Ciudad de las Ideas.		   Don't believe everithing that you think! It's time to celebrate rebelliousness, critical, analysis, enterprising innovation, Darwin and Galileo. It is time to toast in the name of the re-evolution of human intelligence.

Darwin and Galileo were exemplary in unmasking myths and confronting illusion, they were key pieces in questioning how the world works and in providing answers for one of our fundamental human traits: questioning our existence. Likewise, these decisive men of science were compelling in bringing forth the disclosure of scientific knowledge and spreading a methodology for knowledge.


The main goal is to foster creativity to break through paradigms and think beyond limitations…

  • Highlight the importance of fostering creativity.

  • Encourage the participants of La Ciudad de las Ideas to celebrate intellectual curiosity and creativity, in order to crystallize avant-garde ideas.

  • Understand how our own work fits within a wider network of knowledge.

  • Bring about research exchange and teamwork among academicians, scientists and students from Mexico and around the world.

Poder Cívico A.C., is a grassroots, non-profit, non-partisan democratic organization.

Poder Cívico is a place for thinking and action that stimulates the transformation of Mexico into a better equipped State in order to meet the needs of its citizenship, and to place it in a better position to compete in a global economy that transcends local laws and boundaries.

Poder Cívico was born out of a spirit of activism, with the fundamental commitment to help Mexicans live in a free, safe, lawful, responsible and thriving Mexico. 		  In its everlasting search for new tools for the development of individuals, and its commitment to be an idea generator, Poder Cívico A.C. will hold La Ciudad de las Ideas, a forum where creativity will be the best tool for the building of an avant-garde Mexico.
