What is Ideas City?

One of Poder Cívico A.C.’s priority programs is La Ciudad de las Ideas (Ideas City), a festival which gathers humanists, scientists and philosophers with the purpose of provoking the spectators to learn about other visions that explain human beings and our surrounding environments.

Last year the first emission of the festival took place, from November 6th till the 8th at the city of Puebla’s (Mexico) Convention Center, which gathered more than 2,500 spectators. Preparations for this year’s festival, Ciudad de las Ideas (Ideas City) 2009 Re-Evolution, are currently taking place at the Complejo Cultural de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (The Meritious Autonomous University of Puebla’s Cultural Complex), at the City of Puebla, again from November 6th till the 8th with new themes and issues.

La Ciudad de las Ideas (Ideas City) is a space where citizens participate the live event in-person; it is an interactive forum through television and the Internet in which new tools are acquired to carry out a priority role in the formulation of proposals for social benefit.

What is Poder Cívico?

Poder Cívico A.C is a nonpartisan, democratic nonprofit organization; a space for thought, proposal and investigation that contributes to human development through the disclosure of knowledge.

Its purpose is empowerment of the citizen and placing him/her at the center of public policy. It promotes creative spirit, and contributes in establishing the public agenda through research that sustains the formulation of a master plan of action, with the purpose of committing the government in providing efficient and quality services to the population.

The Festival: when and where?

At the Complejo Cultural de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (The Meritious Autonomous University of Puebla’s Cultural Complex), at the City of Puebla, again from November 6th till the 8th 2009.

What does the ticket include?

Entry to all conferences and artistic activities for the duration of the festival: Friday the 6th, Saturday the 7th and Sunday November 8th 2009.

Why is pre-registration important?

Pre-registration is very important to avoid crowding and so that you can receive your ID badge on time before the festival’s inauguration ceremonies. Pre-registration will speed your entrance up, avoiding long lines and missing out on conference time.

Where and how do I receive my entry pass?

You can pick it up during pre-registration, which will take place one day before the start of the festival at the Complejo Cultural de la BUAP (the venue), official announcements will be made at the www.ciudaddelasideas.com ‘s news section, the Newsletter and/or by email.

I’ve got my ticket but I can’t make it to pre-registration, what can I do?

Don’t worry. What you have to do is get to the registration area on starting day, where we will hand you your ID badge, entry pass and the La Ciudad de las Ideas 2009 Re-Evolution kit. Be warned that you will probably miss out on the first few conferences, depending on the flow of people that day.

Can I send someone else to pick up my entry pass?

No. It is necessary for you to turn up for either pre-registration or the registration area as soon as you get to the venue, this allows easier access to everyone and avoids confusion when issuing tickets, and replacement will not be possible in case of a misunderstanding.

Are entry passes transferrable?

No. Entry passes and ID badges are personal and non-transferrable. It is necessary to bring a proper photo ID for access.

What do I have to do to attend the theme parties?

La Ciudad de las Ideas (Ideas City) offers two theme parties, one for Friday the 6th and the other Saturday the 7th when the conference cycles are finished. To assist it is necessary to retain the ID badge due to the parties being exclusive, where you’ll be able to meet and greet the speakers.

What is the event’s dress code?

Casual wear; no school or group uniforms; no formal dress.

Where can I lodge?

The Festival is renown, especially in the City of Puebla, nearing the event’s date hotels are in high demand. We advise reserving with a minimum of a month ahead.
